At nasscom foundation, we believe that AIForSocialGood can be a powerful tool for bridging the digital divide and improving lives at the last mile. AI’s integration into education, healthcare, and community development is transforming these sectors, enabling us to bridge long-standing gaps in accessibility and equity. Through AIForSocialGood, we are creating AI solutions to build a more inclusive and sustainable India.
Education is the foundation of progress, yet far too many students in underserved regions lack access to quality learning resources. Through AI-based educational tools, we’re changing that narrative. By delivering personalized, real-time learning experiences, AI is helping students overcome challenges in ways that traditional methods cannot. Teachers, who often work with limited resources, can now harness AI to focus on individual student growth, making education more inclusive and impactful.
At nasscom foundation, we are committed to #TechForGood to use Technology as an enabler, and AI, particularly AIForSocialGood, should act as a democratizer of opportunities, not a divider. With scalable AI applications, we can ensure that education is accessible to every student, regardless of their geographical or socio-economic background.
One of the most exciting areas where AI is making a tangible difference is in healthcare. In remote communities, access to quality healthcare has always been a challenge. AI is now enabling us to bring life-saving diagnostics and treatments to these areas. From AI-powered cancer diagnostics that reduce reporting times by 30-40% to wearable AI prenatal care systems that track vital health parameters in real-time, the potential for AI to save lives is profound.
In healthcare, AI must be designed with a human-centered approach—one that ensures we are not just deploying technology for technology’s sake but creating solutions that meet the real needs of the people they serve. By prioritizing both technology and empathy, we can drive lasting improvements in health outcomes for underserved populations.
When we talk about healthcare, we must also address the gaps that exist in women’s health, particularly in developing regions. Cervical cancer remains a leading cause of death among women, yet regular screening is often inaccessible. AI is now enabling rapid and accurate detection of precancerous lesions, providing women with the opportunity for early intervention and better health outcomes.
Technology should close gaps, not widen them, and AI-driven solutions in women’s health demonstrate how targeted innovation can address specific, urgent needs in communities that have been historically underserved.
AI is not just a tool for large institutions—it’s an enabler for startups to scale their social innovation efforts. From early diagnosis of learning disabilities to telemedicine platforms serving remote areas, startups are harnessing the power of AI to expand their reach and impact. The ability to scale solutions rapidly and affordably means that small, mission-driven organizations can compete on a global stage, driving innovation where it’s needed most.

As we move forward with AI, we cannot ignore the ethical considerations that come with it. AI systems must be transparent, accountable, and free from bias. In my work, I’ve always emphasized the importance of designing AI with responsibility and integrity. That means ensuring that the communities we serve are involved in the design process and that AI tools are explainable, especially in critical areas like healthcare and education.
Collaboration between technologists, social innovators, and community leaders is key to ensuring that AI drives positive change without creating unintended harm.
The future of social innovation lies at the intersection of technology and purpose. AI offers us an unprecedented opportunity to scale our efforts, to bring real, sustainable change to communities that have long been overlooked. But as we push forward, we must remain committed to the principles of equity, inclusion, and ethics.
