NASSCOM KNOWLEDGE NETWORK (NKN)

NKN is a network of telecentres that provide access to knowledge and information in education, livelihood, health, to improve the capacities for employment and entrepreneurship of underserved communities in rural and urban areas. The centres are variously called as knowledge centres, learning centres, resource centres and information and service centres.

These are the partners who have contributed in content, services, training, hardware, software, and curriculum and funds to run the centres.

List of Resource Partners:

Microsoft:

Microsoft has collaborated with NASSCOM Foundation since 2005 and has reached maximum beneficiaries since then. Microsoft’s MSUP curriculum is used in all the NKN centres. Microsoft has also supported by licenses donations to the network partners.

Azim Premji Foundation

The Foundation works in the area of elementary education to pilot and develop 'proofs of concept' that have a potential for systemic change in India's 1.3 million government-run schools. NASSCOM Foundation has been partnering with Azim Premji Foundation since 2005 and has extensively used the school support curriculum developed by the foundation in NKN centres for school children.

Cause and Effect Foundation:

The Cause and Effect Foundation is an Early Intervention Service for Preschool children with special needs. Cause and Effect developed content in partnership with NASSCOM Foundation for mushroom cultivation, floriculture and women empowerment, in 3 languages - Hindi, Oriya and Telegu.

Tata Consultancy Services:

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), (BSE: TCS.BO, NSE: TCS.NS), is a leading global IT services, business solutions and outsourcing firm. In partnership with the NASSCOM Foundation, it has provided support in the computer-based functional literacy module to be disseminated in 7 languages.

UNICEF:

UNICEF supports companies that aim to strengthen their commitment towards a positive contribution to the world’s communities and environment and provide support to achieve their CSR and business objectives. In partnership with the NASSCOM Foundation, it has supported the Sisu Samrakshak module - an RCH guidance module in various Indian languages. This module contains essential information on the different stages in the life of a child right from conception till the child reaches the age of six.

UNDP:

UNDP is the UN's global development network, an organization advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life. In 166 countries, they are working with people on their own solutions to national and global development challenges. UNDP was the resource partner with NASSCOM Foundation in the first project launched in Orissa.

Qualcomm:

Qualcomm is a leading developer and innovator of wireless technologies, products and services. Being a resource partner with NASSCOM Foundation, Qualcomm has sponsored 68 data devices for the NKN network to be connected. These included data cards and FWTs.

Tata Teleservices:

Tata Teleservices Limited, along with Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Limited has a bouquet of telecom services encompassing mobile services, wireless desktop phones, public booth telephones, wireline services and enterprise solutions. Tata companies are renowned for undertaking social responsibility, community development and nation-building projects. In collaboration with NASSCOM Foundation it has provided connectivity to 25 NKN centres in 2009.

NIIT:

NIIT is a leading Global Talent Development Corporation, building skilled manpower pool for global industry requirements. The company which was set up in 1981, to help the nascent IT industry overcome its human resource challenges, has today grown to be amongst world’s leading talent development companies offering learning solutions to Individuals, Enterprises and Institutions across 40 countries. NIIT has been NASSCOM Foundation training partner since 2006 for all NKN centres for IT skills.

24/7 Learning Pvt. Ltd.:

24/7 Learning Pvt. Ltd. is the largest online learning store that provides solutions to unemployment in youth by partnering with corporate and educational institutions to create and groom the talent that meets the needs of the industry. It has supported NASSCOM Foundation by creating a specific English Language Module to be deployed in the NKN centres. The company has also enabled the implementation of the TOT module in West Bengal and Maharashtra.

Moser Baer:

Established in 1983, Moser Baer, is one of India's leading technology companies that has successfully developed cutting edge technologies to become the world's second largest manufacturer of Optical Storage media like CDs and DVDs. Moser Baer has suppported NASSCOM Foundation by replicating content CDs. The company has disseminated over 7000 CDs of content so far. It is also an implementing partner for NASSCOM Foundation in Greater Noida, UP.
