MyKartavya

An initiative by NASSCOM Foundation, MyKartavya not only connects you to a wide spectrum of volunteering opportunities, but also helps you manage and evaluate your efforts.The program aims at promoting strategic volunteering towards capacity building of individuals, communities and member companies.

MyKartavya does not require a unique degree or prior experience - but only a willingness to help! Learn new skills such as leadership and management, while enhancing the ones you have.

Celebrating International Women’s Day' 2012

NASSCOM Foundation invites you to participate in its MyKartavya (MyK) program to celebrate the International Women’s Day (IWD) on the 8th March 2012. The objectives being:

  1. Thank our women colleagues for their support & leadership (in the multiple roles they play!)
  2. Spend time with underprivileged girl children to make sure the next generation is empowered!

Bring underprivileged children to your workplace and create e-greetings with them to be distributed to your women colleagues.

Number of volunteers: 10 to 15, children for the event: 15 to 20.
A tentative work plan would be like this:

  1. Get corporate approval for your conference or training room (with PCs) to be used for the event. (If not, your volunteers can go to any of the NGOs that work with girl children. MyK team will connect you wherever possible).
  2. Get corporate communication team’s buy-in – this way you can use the created e-greetings in your official email for celebrating IWD.
  3. Decide budget e.g. going to NGO premise, some snacks for the children, poster printing for volunteer recruitment and perhaps printing of the e-greetings post the event.
  4. Spread the word among your employees and recruit volunteers (If you are on the MyK portal, this is the email promotion feature that you need to use)
  5. Decide date of event – we recommend no later than 25th Feb 2012 (Saturday). This will give you enough time to clean-up/edit the initial e-greetings; add your company logo, etc.
  6. Share your final cards with MyK team to showcase them on the Foundation’s  website
  7. Send email on 8th March. This can be accompanied by a lunch time party, coffee get together as per your budget.

We are looking at an Event Sponsorship of Rs. 40,000 to cover our costs of getting the industry together for this cause and organizing the events with NGO’s.
