Flood Disaster reliefRequest for Flood Disaster relief

Over the last few days we have been faced with some challenging situations around us. The challenging conditions we are all witnessing due to the flood disaster has brought together the IT and BPO industry to make this appeal for your kind support.

The floods have caused severe devastation across the states of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

Flood Disaster reliefWhile facing such colossal damage it is extremely hard for those affected to recover completely from the shock. However, a helping hand from us will at least temporarily bail the people in this hour of need out of their starvation and sickness.

The IT and BPO Industry has always been in the fore-front in responding to any such calamities. It is now again a compelling situation for all of us, as responsible individuals and organizations, to respond to the situation and donate generously in our own capacities.

In Andhra Pradesh, HYSEA and NASSCOM and in Karnataka NASSCOM, are in touch with various NGOs who are at Ground zero accessing the immediate requirements of the flood victims on a day to day basis. We have listed ways in which we can help channelize your support and contributions.
Primarily we aim to utilize the monetary aid as follows:
First phase:
Immediate relief in the form of Clothes, Blankets, Rice and Cooking Oil ( in hard containers only) will be distributed through reputed NGOs like Red Cross http://www.indianredcross.org/) and/ or Goonj www.goonj.info or similar organizations
Also, contribute towards CM's Relief fund
Second phase:
Help in reconstruction for medium to long term rehabilitation of the flood victims

On behalf of the IT and BPO Industry we offer heartfelt condolences to all the families and friends of the flood victims. We request you to promote this cause and help us trigger the collection process as well as mobilisation of in-kind and volunteers to reach out to as many as we can.

Individuals & Organizations can contritbute in the following ways
Employees and Companies interested in donating can issue cheque(s) in favour of NASSCOM Foundation. SPOCs within companies will collect and record the donation. All collected cheques will be handed over to NASSCOM Foundation.
Individuals wanting to donate in Cash should handover the same to your SPOC or NASSCOM/HYSEA office (for Andhra Pradesh) or NASSCOM Bangalore office (for Karnataka). Disclaimer:
Money collected by respective companies could be consolidated into a single cheque payable to 'NASSCOM
Foundation'. We also request you to send details of Donor and amount contributed to help NASSCOM Foundation issue an 80G Certificate for tax purposes.

Please Note: Currently all donations are eligible for 50% tax relief under Section 80G. However if over the next few days the government allows a 100% exemption for such donations, then the same will be passed on to the Donors. BUT FOR NOW IT'S 50% TAX RELIEF UNDER SECTION 80G.
