Amongst the many initiatives that NASSCOM Foundation has taken towards fulfilling its vision to facilitate and strengthen the CSR within the IT industry, the Regional CSR Forums is one such important step towards achieving this vision. In the year 2009, NF instituted CSR forums at 5 locations - Chennai, Delhi & NCR, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune (Bangalore and Hyderabad have been planned for in the first quarter of this year), with the following aims:

Provide a platform for member companies of NASSCOM to meet, interact and share information and resources pertaining to CSR.
Support and stimulate collaboration and greater understanding between the corporate and civil society sectors regionally and
Develop a network of projects across IT hubs in India to shape and drive CSR towards a structured national development plan

The agenda for each of these forums is charted out by members of the Steering Committees populated by passionate and dedicated CSR champions. The members of the Steering committee voluntarily nominated themselves to be the lead and driving force towards achieving the goals set by the larger audience. The commitment demonstrated by these CSR practitioners reflects the vision, inspiration and support that they get from their respective companies. With a motive to achieve something lasting and significant, the CSR Forum shortlists socially relevant issues and builds events and volunteering opportunities around it. The NF team is excited about the CSR forums and the potential for far reaching impact through them. However, since the forums are at a nascent stage the year 2010 will be crucial. NF is prepared for this challenge with support of its member companies and the Steering Committee.
