One of the NASSCOM Foundation’s mission is the promotion of Computer Literacy by promoting basic concepts of coding and computer science to youth from underserved communities. The idea is to have an outcome that envisages basic coding skills gained by these young people, which will act as a key differentiator for employability and also encourage them to undertake courses in advanced computing to explore better livelihood opportunities. As a part of this overall goal, Microsoft Corporation India, and NASSCOM Foundation have joined hands to design and implement the Code <A> Future Project. The Program aims to expand the ambit of traditional education and include training the youth on computer programming & coding skills to help them enhance their opportunities for employment in the 21st century. The program is being implemented under the global Microsoft YouthSpark Initiative, with the aim to empower youth with computational skills.
The program aims to train over 12,000 youth in Coding and Computer Science through its partner organizations working at the grassroots level. At the end of the training, the program also organizes job fairs in order to help the trained beneficiaries to get relevant job opportunities.
Currently the program is being implemented in 6 states in India - Delhi, Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana through organizations like Action India, Pondicherry Multipurpose Social Service Society, Forum for Integrated Development & Research and Nirmaan Organization.
