The Disability Action Group (DAG) was constituted two years back with a purpose to inform and advise the Foundation on issues such as accessibility (physical and digital), employability and assistive technology. The current DAG includes representatives from the IT-BPM industry, Employability & Accessibility domain experts and Disability Advocacy organizations.
Pradeep Gupta is the Chairman of the CyberMedia Group, South Asia's first and largest specialty media house. Co-founder of Indian Angel Network PG has mentored number of entrepreneurs. He is also on the Board of UTI AMC, TiE Global, PanIIT Global, Indian Newspaper Society and Kaleidoscope Entertainment. He has been the past President of TiE Delhi, PanIIT India and Association of Indian Magazines. PG is the recipient of the Distinguished Alumni award of IIT Delhi and the Helen Keller award for working in the disability sector.
Isaac joined Wipro in 1993 after graduating in Engineering and Management. Over the years, he has led Sales, Account Management, Quality, Business Process Consulting, Business Operations and Human Resources for different Divisions. He is now the HR Head of Wipro Infotech and Global Infrastructure Services, a Trustee for Wipro Cares, and leads Wipro's "Persons with Disabilities" program. Wipro's "Persons with Disabilities" program has been recognized for its merit based and inclusive approach, and for the way it has consistently striven to improve its impact within Wipro and in the larger society.
Javed Abidi is the pioneer of the cross-disability movement in India.He has successfully led several path breaking advocacy initiatives in India, including the drafting and enactment of the Disability Act of 1995, inclusion of disability as a separate category in Census 2001, India’s ratification of CRPD in 2007, and setting up of a separate Department of Disability Affairs in 2012.With his election as DPI’s World Chair in October, 2011, Abidi is now focused on the global disability movement. He strongly believes that the voice of disability should always first focus on the global South where nearly 800 million of the world’s 1 billion people with disabilities live.
Meenu Bhambhani is a professional of 15 years experiences in disability and human development. She specializes in disability studies and social policy. She is also a researcher on disabilities issues in India and an ally of local and transnational disability rights movements. In her current role at MphasiS, her key responsibility is to engage with development sector especially in the area of education, disability and livelihoods; to help the company become more inclusive and work towards removing barriers which may exist in persons with disabilities accessing equal opportunities. She has successfully helped the company hire and retain nearly 400 employees with disabilities, have helped create internal systems and policies for inclusion, retention and career growth of employees with disabilities. In the last five years, MphasiS has won numerous awards from government and non-government organisations which are a testimony to the success of this programme.
In 2007 Rama started DEOC a firm providing consulting, research and training services to corporates, educational institutions, industry bodies, development organisations and the Government in creating an inclusive environment. DOEC has developed a manual "Values Route to Business Success – The Why and How of Employing Persons with Disabilities". Rama is the Honorary Board Member of ARUNIM, a marketing federation, promoting products and services made by disability groups and NGOs. Before starting DEOC Rama worked at "Action for Ability Development & inclusion" (AADI) (Formerly, Spastics Society of Northern India (SSNI),National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP). As part of NCPEDP’s core management team, she played an important role in bringing about several policy changes with regards to disability in the country. Later, she provided consulting services to Infosys BPO, for setting up their Equal Opportunity Programme. Rama has Masters degree in Economics and PG Diploma in Education of Children with Disabilities. Rama was selected for the prestigious International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).
Shilpi Kapoor has a vision to "break the barriers of knowledge and disabilities". Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer Shilpi is trained in the field of Section 508 and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). With an industry experience of 18 years she has been the protagonist is bringing about revolutionary changes in the lives of people with disabilities through her innovative ideas and initiatives. Shilpi Kapoor is also the recipient of "NCPEDP - Shell Helen Keller Award 2008" for the role model category - Non-disabled role model supporter of increased employment opportunities for people with disabilities. She is a co-convener of the National Task Force for Electronic Accessibility. Also being a woman entrepreneur, she believes in giving back promoting women entrepreneurship by working with TiE Mumbai and TiE Stree Shakti. An Ashoka Fellow, Shilpi has been instrumental in drafting the National Policy on Electronic Accessibility in association with National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People . The objective of the policy is to provide persons with disabilities equal access to electronic and information and communication technology and services.
Shivani is India's one of the best-known access consultants. With Post graduation degrees in Inclusive Environments from the UK, and diplomas in architecture technology and hotel management, Shivani has spent most of her professional life in working towards improving accessibility of public spaces such as educational institutions, hotels and retail and other commercial spaces in India. Apart from her work at the country level, she has undertaken international projects with the UN OHCHR; the International Disability Alliance, Disabled People's International and CBM. She has also co-authored three publications pertain to improving accessibility in physical environments for disabled people. For her achievements in the disability sector, and her personal courage, Shivani has received national and international acclaim. Shivani believes that there is nothing more disabling for persons with disabilities than society's failure to accept and include them as part of the mainstream. Her motto is "Access = Ability".
Ayaskant is VP and Global Head of HR, Wipro BPO. He also leads the “Persons with Disability” initiative for Wipro Technologies. Ayaskant has 16 years of experience in the field of Human Resources and brings with him significant experience in talent recruitment and development over the years globally. Prior to Wipro, Ayaskant has worked in companies like GE, Infosys and L&T. Since taking over the charter of leading the “Persons with Disabilities” initiative at Wipro, Ayaskant has specifically focused on Infrastructure development, managerial sensitization and recruitment to ensure that Wipro continues to provide the best place to work for employees with Disability. Ayaskant has done his Engineering from NIT Surat and his masters in Human Resources from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneshwar.
Som assumed office of the President, NASSCOM in January 2008. He has a rich and wide ranging work experience of over 30 years in corporate India, he has been a part of the Indian IT industry for the past 24+ years. Before joining NASSCOM, he was heading the Services business for Hewlett Packard in Asia Pacific and Japan. He has also served as Chairman NASSCOM in the year 2003- 04. He is a member of body constituted under the Chairpersonship of Hon’ble Prime Minister to implement National e-Governance Plan (NeGP). He is also a member of National Integration Council chaired by Hon'ble Prime Minister. He has been on Chief Ministers IT Task Force in Karnataka. He is on the Governing Board of several educational institutions including IIIT at Bangalore, Delhi and Hyderabad. He holds a B.Tech from IIT Kanpur and an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad.
